Vintage Floral Nails

Hola and cómo estás? By the way I’m currently in a Spanish class. Ok, I kinda lied about how I was doing a continous post for multiple days. I kinda forgot. But here, is a pretty cute nail idea I did multiple months ago. My inspiration is this pic I saw on Pinterest (Below). Obviously, they’re not as sweet, but I think I did a solid job. Forever ago I tried to make designs on my nails with skinny paintbrushes, because I thought that’s how it goes. Eventually, I realized, ‘Ok, every time the nail polish spreads to my whole nail, so obviously I’m doing it wrong’. And I was. The key is to use acrylic paint and use a toothpick. And now I’m like, ‘Ok, that makes sense’. Now both my fingers and toes are natural, because I think I’ve noticed a bit of a yellow shade. Nasty. So I’m giving these cuticles a break. But here you are!

Now these are not mine. They are the ones from Pinterest (the link on Pinterest wasn't very clear but I'm letting you know this is not my design nor my photography I just want to show you where I originally found the idea). Mine have the same idea. But my lines aren't as clean and straight and I did not have that pretty turquoise color so that makes a difference. Now here are mine:

Supplies:

-Multiple toothpicks

-nail polish (this girl has light blue and a soft pink. I just used a french pink but if you have her colors please use 'em)

-clear coat

-acrylic paint (dark green, light pink, darker pink, white, etc.)

Directions:

1. First clear coat

2. I'm going to do tutorial as if I used two colors. Paint your index and ring finger pink. Paint your thumb, middle, and pinkie blue.

3. Start with the stripes. Dip the tip of your toothpick at your cuticle and drag it upwards to make lines. Do this multiple times and on your fingers with pink.

4. Now we're going to do the little flowers. Dip your toothpick in the dark pink and make little blobs all over your nails. After dip a new toothpick in the light pink and making smaller blobs over the dark ones to form flowers. If you want make tiny white spots in the middle of the flowers.

5. Add leaves with the green paint. Same as the blobs but drag it out more to look like a leaf. This is no art and no sure way to do it. It shouldn't look perfect because flowers aren't perfect and this is kinda messy and vintage.

6. When they're dry, always apply a top coat and let dry! Enjoy!

Polka Dot Nails

Just a little notice, I want to share this with you guys before you go all awhol on me for never posting. Look at these. I know, it is a horribly horrible pic but just look at these things. You have to admit, they’re pretty irresistible. You can never go wrong with polka dots.

How Do You Do It?

Excellent question. 1st of all, you’ll need the following ingredients:

-toothpicks

-white acrylic paint

-black or very, very, very dark brown nail polish (I used Essie’s Little Brown Dress)

Yep, that’s all you need :)

And nowwww....

Directions:

1. Apply a base coat and let dry.
2. Apply your black or brown and let dry.
3. Squirt a tiny blob of your acrylic paint on a paper plate or something else you don’t mind getting paint on.
4. Dip your toothpick into your paint and make little dots all over your nails.
5. Apply a top coat.

You’re done!

New Nails for a New Year

These confetti nails will give you a burst of glitter for New Years’ Eve. How did I do it? First, leave your nails long but file them. I didn’t cut mine much or file, and they broke and kept on getting caught on my clothes, so after about a week I had to saw those killers off. Do NOT cut them for this design. I did, and now my nails look stubby and tacky. But DO file them.

*P.S. I meant to post this New Years’ Eve. Sorry I didn’t.*

For this design you’ll need:

-base coat

-glitter polish

-confetti polish or glitter hexagons

Directions: Coat your nails with your clear polish. Paint the white part of your nails (the top part) with glitter polish. I didn’t do a very good job at this. With your confetti polish, in a dabbing motion, paint the rest of your nails. Make sure to have enough confetti so it doesn’t look tacky. Hope you like this!

Cheetah Fingernails

Ah, the glory of the difference of these two designs. Remember my Cheetah Toes post back in August? Well, let the memories flood back. This time I did my nails myself and painted my fingernails, not my piggies. I’m so sure that the last one was better, but here they are!

What I did was coat the nail polish brush very lightly. If you have too much polish you will have big blobs, not cheetah spots. Be careful, and the messier, the better. Remember, this is cheetah print, not perfect zebra stripes. It comes easier the more nails you do. Just dab your brush onto your nail in very quick, sharp movements until you create spots.

Have fun and try this out! Mistakes are natural!

Cheetah Toes

Cha-cha-cha-cheetah-cheetah. Cha-cha-cha-cheetah-cheetah. Do you know what that means? A nail idea! And you know what else that means? A nail thats cheetah-licious!

This gorgeous design was created two weeks ago, when I originally took the pictures and planned to present them. But, unfortunately, I don’t know where the time went. So now I’d like to show you them!

My sister’s friend originally was making cookies, so I’d have adorable cookie nails, but the blobs became misshapen and different sized so we decided to call it a cheetah nail instead.

These were created with Essie’s little brown dress and sand tropez. I really heart these two polishes and yes, they would make perfect cookie colors but they also made perfect cheetah print colors!

I have made a very important decision. A decision that could affect a life. Or maybe my nail beds (snicker, snicker). Oh, I crack myself up way too much. I need a life. Possibly one that has to do with swimming (NOT). So I finished some summer reading I needed to complete for the school year. That’s a plus, right? Oh, the glory of feeling accomplished. It’s a beautiful thing.

Hey, speaking of glory, who else hates that Lady Gaga song as much as me. I don’t get it. (In other words, I don’t get Lady Gaga. Shh...)

But anyways, back to my BIG decision. And by BIG I mean mega-watt!

I’ve decided to go essie®. Yep, that’s what I’m calling it. Going essie. If you don’t know what essie is, it’s a beautiful, online boutique for... nail polish? Isn’t that rocking? I heart nail polish, and I wish I had more time to paint these ugly nails of mine (giggles) because they look so darn gorgeous when they’re blanketed by sand tropez. I love that color because it’s griege all the way, and if you haven’t seen the trend, it’s all about soft sandy beige-grays, screaming neutral. Don’t cha love it?

And I realized today, and someone was painting my demented left hand (which I can’t do anything with thanks to writing with my right hand) that a... er, special nail polish brand stinks compared to my uno bottle of essie. And I decided I upgrade my nails to their full potential and go essie.

Red, White, and Blue!

Wow. First and foremost, let me say it has been a long time. And by a long time, I mean about 2 months! Where have you guys been? I’ve been going to boats and water parks and swimming classes and baking in the sun. You know what’s weird? I’ve been frying in the sun. A lot. And I still haven’t got the perfect tan of a model, but... hey, I’m working on it. It’s impossible for me not to be stressed during these summer months. I mean I have to recover from all those hard days of studying in the school year. So, blog what??

But Happy 4th of July! And lucky you, you get a nail idea! My cousin perfected my toenails on Wednesday and even between swimming in chlorine and toppling over on my feet in yoga class, they still managed to look decent. And without the safety of a top coat!

I know, laugh all you want at my flip-flop tan line. 

Aren’t they *adorbs*? (*adorable, for those *normies* who don’t speak teen*) (*Lisi Harrison’s words, not mine. Sorry, I’m on a Monster High phase right now*) My nails, unfortunately, I cannot say the same about. That polish has been chipping off since Friday.

See, this is pretty simple stuff you see here. No fancy tools (we’re no artists), but some talent.

1. Begin painting all of your toenails white except the second-to-last one. Or the one right next to your pig-toe.
2. Paint the toe left blank navy blue.
3. Once you have done these steps with both feet, begin painting 2-4 stripes on each toe with white nail polish, ignoring the navy blue toe.
4. Wait till the big-toe has dried and paint a small square in the left corner of it with the same navy blue polish.
5. Use a silver or white nail pen and apply small dots to the navy blue toe and to the blue square on your big toe.
6. Make sure all of your toes are dry before you apply a top coat.
7. DO NOT FAN OUT YOUR TOES OR PUT THEM UNDER A FAN. THIS WILL DULL THE SHINE AND USE OF YOUR TOP COAT.
8. Enjoy the complements you will get on those nails!
